I grew up on the South Side of Chicago, travelled around the country picking fruit, and now live in the Pacific Northwest (except for a month in the winter when I live in Carpinteria, California).

 

I'm the author of three books on diverse subjects that have involved me deeply -- Holocaust experiences of Gypsies, migrant fruitpickers, the history of lemons.

 

Other interests/passions: fruit, bread, clotheslines, colored pencil sketches, baking, cooking, Italy, Montana, vintage postcards, researching my family's Holocaust history. . .
